From its inception in 2017 until 2023 Adventures in Mind ran under the auspices of Vancouver Island University, although there were no offerings during the period of concern about Covid-19. At the beginning of 2024 it was launched as an independent program run by the Adventures in Mind Educational Travel Association, a non-profit society incorporated under the British Columbia Societies Act.
